Neemias Queta is hunted in defense

Neemias Queta has slowly carved out a legitimate role in Joe Mazzulla’s rotation early in the season. The Boston Celtics have relied on Queta’s rim-running abilities as they continue to navigate the absence of Kristaps Porzingis. At times it looked as if Queta had overtaken Luke Kornet in the rotation.

However, it has become clear in recent games that opposing teams are trying to move Queta to the perimeter where they can test his lateral quickness and attack the rim without his presence in the paint. To be fair, Queta did an admirable job chasing him on defense if you don’t count the third quarter against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, November 19th.

During a recent episode of the “How’Bout Them Celtics?” podcast, hosts Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance discussed Queta’s recent performances and how he has handled being attacked on defense. They also mentioned his impressive rim protection. According to Cleaning The Glass, the Celtics are +13.2 points better per 100 possessions when the explosive big man is on the floor.
