When are the Thanksgiving Day games?

For the 19th consecutive year, Thanksgiving in 2024 will feature a tripleheader packed with NFL action. Traditionally, the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys will hostThe earlier games on the national holiday, with another duel in prime time.

This year, the Lions and Cowboys games are division games for the second year in a row. Detroit hosts the Chicago Bears in the first meeting between the two teams this year. Later in the day, Dallas hosts the New York Giants for the second and final divisional clash between the two. The Cowboys won the first match, which also took place on a Thursday, 20:15.

The event is rounded off by a conference duel between the Green Bay Packers and the Miami Dolphins. It will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2022 and the second in a row on a national holiday – the 2022 meeting took place on Christmas Day.

NFL Thanksgiving games today

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears

Location: Detroit, Mich
Venue: Ford Field
Time: 12:30 p.m. ET
Channel: CBS

The Lions are headed home after taking care of business with a 24-6 road win over the Colts. Running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery combined for 127 yards and three touchdowns, while quarterback Jared Goff went 26 of 36 for 269 yards.

Chicago suffered another devastating loss to the Vikings in Week 12. After the game went into overtime with a touchdown, an onside kick recovery and a last-second field goal, Minnesota’s defense shut down the Bears. Kicker John Parker Romo secured the victory with a 29-yard field goal.

The Thanksgiving matchup between these two NFC North teams will be the first of two this season. The Bears won their final Thanksgiving Day meeting with the Lions in 2021, 16-14, thanks to Andy Dalton’s 317-yard day.

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants

Venue: AT&T Stadium
Time: 4:30 p.m. ET
Channel: fox

After upsetting the Commanders in a wild road game, the Cowboys return home to face a team they have dominated in recent years. Dallas won the Week 12 game 34-26 in a back-and-forth affair that featured 41 points in the fourth quarter. It was the team’s first win since Oct. 6 and increased the Cowboys’ record in away games this year to 4-2.

In their first game of the post-Daniel Jones era, the Giants were defeated at home by the Buccaneers. Baker Mayfield went 24 of 30 for 294 yards in the 30-7 loss, with 11 different players catching a pass. Now Big Blue heads to Arlington, Texas, hoping to end the Cowboys’ seven-game winning streak against them.

The last time these two teams played on Thanksgiving was two years ago. The Cowboys won 28-20.

Green Bay Packers vs. Miami Dolphins

Unlike the first two meetings of the day, the Thanksgiving primetime finale features two teams that had victories in Week 12.

The Packers defeated the 49ers on Sunday in a 38-10 victory that included a 106-yard, three-touchdown day from running back Josh Jacobs. Green Bay will play on Thanksgiving for the second year in a row. The team defeated the Lions 29-22 on the road in 2023.

Miami is on a three-game winning streak and has a chance to get back to .500 on Thursday. Most recently, the Dolphins defeated the Patriots 34:15, leaving quarterback Tua Tagovailoa undefeated against their division rivals. He finished the day 29 of 40 for 317 yards and four passing touchdowns. This game will be the Dolphins’ first on Thanksgiving since their 20-19 loss to Tony Romo and the Cowboys in 2011.
