Vinícius Júnior will miss Real Madrid’s Champions League game at Liverpool on Wednesday after suffering a muscle injury in his leg during Sunday’s 3-0 La Liga win at Leganés, the Spanish club said.

Sources close to the player said that Vinícius is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks. That means he could miss up to seven games before the winter break.

A statement from the club said: “Following the tests carried out today by the Real Madrid medical service on our player Vini Jr., he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg.”

Vinícius is the latest addition to the club’s long injury list, which includes key players such as Rodrygo, Éder Militão, Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vázquez, Aurélien Tchouaméni and David Alaba.
