Man United 3-2 Bodo/Glimt (November 28, 2024) Match analysis

Manchester United overtook Bodo/Glimt 3-2 in the Europa League to secure their first win under new coach Ruben Amorim.

United took the lead in the first minute thanks to a screamer from goalkeeper Nikita Haikin, who failed to keep out a back pass, and under pressure from Rasmus Højlund the ball came loose, allowing Alejandro Garnacho to fire home from close range.

The Norwegians scored two goals with quick counterattacks: Hakon Evjen fired a great shot into the top corner in the 19th minute and Philip Zinckernagel held off Tyrell Malacia before beating goalkeeper André Onana and stunning the Old Trafford crowd.

United equalized just before half-time when Noussair Mazraoui’s pass into the box picked out Højlund, who controlled the ball with his first touch before firing a shot between two defenders into the far corner.

Amorim’s side took the lead five minutes after the break when Manuel Ugarte’s low pass across the penalty area was directed into the net by Højlund, shortly after Mason Mount hit the crossbar.

However, United were unable to score another goal and needed two good saves from Onana to secure the three points which moved them to 12th in the standings with nine points, ahead of Bodo/Glimt on seven.
