John Candy’s erotic novel Planes, Trains and Automobiles has been restored by a fan

There’s probably no better Thanksgiving movie than Planes, trains and automobilesJohn Hughes’ classic street comedy about two strangers (played by Steve Martin and John Candy) who bond on their way home for the holidays. Not only is it funny, it’s also extremely heartwarming – at least for those who don’t share this theory Candy’s character murdered his wife and keeps her skeletal remains in this suitcase.

One memorable joke from the film wasn’t even a joke. During their trip, Candy’s character Del Griffith is seen reading a book: an old paperback edition of a Canuck-themed pornographic novel entitled The Canadian mounted.

The script states that Del is reading a “pornographic novel” and originally included a scene in which Del remarks that he has finished reading the book (which he describes as a “damn thing”). But the title of the book is never spelled out.

The Canadian mounted took on a life of its own in the years that followed; for example, Candy fan (and fellow Canadian) Ryan Reynolds is seen reading a copy of the paperback Deadpool 2 And Dead Pool & glutton.

As mentioned in the Planes, trains and automobiles “Trivia Guide” by Mark Leslie (that is Also called The Canadian mounted), although it is supposedly a prop, the book is completely real. The Canadian mounted was published in 1981 by Bee-Line Books, the company behind other erotic pulp fiction titles such as Let her be lustful And Seduce me… anyone!

On the back of the book the summary is explained: “Ann-Marie is very sexually free. Across the country of Canada, many men have had her – some are famous, some are shady, but they all admit that she is a very horny woman!”

Bee Line books reportedly went bankrupt in 1987 and copies of The Canadian mounted appear to be extremely rare, leading some booksellers to believe that this is indeed the book a prop made for the production. But three years ago, a fan claimed to have found a copy, and indeed posted some excerpts from the novel on Reddit. The pages contain lines like: “Jean and Anne-Marie pretended to swim – he actually rubbed his hard tool on her ass!” So not exactly Faulkner.

According to the same fan, the book’s copyright was “never registered,” so he scanned the whole thing, then “cleaned up the artwork” and “reset the book (exactly as it was, line for line). ” And now he has put it up for sale Print on demand website.

This is good news for anyone who is a big fan of the film or just wants to find out what happens to “Nymph of the North” Anne-Marie.
