Bose’s new Smart Soundbar (8/10, WIRED recommends) is a killer compact that updates the Smart Soundbar 600 with all-new tricks. The biggest improvement is the bar’s new AI dialogue mode, which does an excellent job of clarifying dialogue and center channel information. Another new trick is the ability to add Bose’s Ultra Open Earbuds for personalized surround sound, creating an almost AR effect. Aside from the new tricks, the bar offers impressive Dolby Atmos immersion with upward-firing drivers and a balanced, musical sound profile. It’s not the bassiest bar in its price range, but features like Wi-Fi streaming and the ability to later connect other Bose speakers add a lot of value that lets the system grow with your needs.

High on our list of the best TVs for most people, Hisense’s U7N QLED TV (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is the best option thanks to its great value for money. You get excellent brightness, striking quantum dot colors and impressive black levels with minimal light leakage or “blooming”. Video enthusiasts may see some variations on the screen (also known as the “dirty screen effect”), but most people won’t notice this in most scenarios. The U7N’s impressive performance is supported by great gaming features, including VRR (variable refresh rate) for gaming at up to 144Hz and a sleek Google TV interface.

Apple’s AirPods Pro are the best earbuds for anyone who owns an iPhone. They offer great sound, great noise cancellation, and advanced features like Transparency Mode, which can cancel out loud noises so your ears don’t get blown out. The controls are brilliantly easy to use and Apple continues to update the firmware to unlock innovations, including a new option for over-the-counter hearing aids. With all that and more in an extremely lightweight and comfortable design, it’s no wonder these are the most popular headphones (according to Apple) on the planet.

Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K Max is one of the best streaming sticks available, especially for those who watch a lot of Amazon Prime Video TV shows and movies. The second-generation device offers loads of apps, 16GB of storage and Wi-Fi 6E support for ultra-fast streaming. Alexa fans will particularly be pleased with features such as integrated voice control and a picture-in-picture mode for supported surveillance cameras.

The Sonos Era 100 (9/10, WIRED recommends) is one of the best-sounding smart speakers you can buy. It offers particularly impressive detail and balance, as well as more bass than you’d expect, not only serving your catalog but enhancing it. Its smarts include voice control via Amazon Alexa and Sonos’ built-in voice assistant, and its networking capabilities let you connect it to other Sonos speakers in a surround system or as part of a multi-room audio system. The Sonos app has had some issues lately, but it seems to be back on track, offering simplified controls and tons of usability. If you’re looking for a small and stylish speaker that sounds bigger than it is, the Era 100 is your first choice.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones

Bose’s QuietComfort Ultra headphones (9/10, WIRED recommends) are the best noise-cancelling headphones you can buy. That’s a serious difference compared to the competition, but no one can strangle the sound world around you like Bose’s current flagships. You achieve this performance with an elegant and luxurious design, a balanced sound and numerous functions. The only downside to these cans is their introductory price of well over $400. With this sale, they may be offering the best value in this genre right now.

Sonos may be the top name when it comes to smart speakers, but don’t sleep on JBL’s retro-style Authentics 200 (9/10, WIRED recommends). The speaker combines vintage looks with innovative intelligence, including the ability to alternately use Google Assistant and Alexa for all sorts of tasks. Most importantly, the speaker delivers fantastic sound, with rich and detailed mids, clear highs and much more bass than you would expect. This beauty was already great at full price and with this latest offer it’s a real bargain.

Roku’s streaming interface is so intuitive and convenient that the company eventually developed a line of TVs based on its popular software. If you don’t have any of these, just grab this powerful provider of all things Roku. This box makes everything easier, from accessing virtually every existing app to streaming via AirPlay 2 or Chromecast to watching your favorite show in any HDR variant. If you’ve been looking for the easiest way to improve your viewing experience, your search is over.

LG’s C4 (9/10, WIRED Recommends) occupies an annual spot on our list of the best TVs you can buy. This is as close to a perfect TV as you can find, and it’s not even LG’s top model (see G4 OLED). It’s not the brightest OLED you can buy, but it’s got plenty of Dolby Vision HDR kick, coupled with stunning contrast, perfect black levels, accurate colors and fabulous 4K detail. LG’s smart webOS interface is a little strange, but it’s ultra-fast, and the Magic Remote lets you point and click through the menu (or just use your voice). You also get four HDMI 2.1 inputs with advanced gaming features like VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) for seamless next-generation gaming. A TV this good makes you want to never leave the house again, and that’s ultimately what an online Black Friday sale is all about.

Black and gold smartwatches with large digital screens

Apple Watch Series 10

Photo: Apple

The Apple Watch is a perennial smartwatch front-runner and the latest Series 10 (8/10, WIRED recommends) is another winner. The larger and brighter display is easier to read than ever, the latest WatchOS has some great new features, and the sleep apnea tracking feature is crucial for the snorers among us (the culprits). I love my Apple Watch’s ability to track things like my water intake, workout routines, and ambient noise so I don’t blow my ears out—not to mention its insanely convenient phone search. Whatever you like, if you haven’t switched to the Apple Watch yet, it could be the new Robin to your iPhone’s Batman.

Apple’s miniature iPad is the best option for anyone who wants to take a small tablet with them everywhere. The 7th generation model (8/10, WIRED Recommends) offers improved performance with the new A17 Pro chipset, smart features via Apple Intelligence, and compatibility with the Apple Pencil Pro. This is a sweet little device at a more manageable price than Apple’s top models, especially on sale.

Google’s Nest Cam is one of the best indoor security cameras you’ll buy, thanks to its subtle design, clear and focused 1080p HDR resolution, and accurate detection of people, animals, and that ever-present delivery man your dog is trying to chase away can Good. It would be nice if you could get more than three hours of history without a Nest Aware subscription, but this is one of the most accurate cameras of this type we’ve tested and is worth grabbing on sale.

Photo: Brenda Stolyar

If you haven’t joined the Kindle world yet, this is a game changer. The latest Paperwhite model (8/10, WIRED recommends) is a fantastic way to get started, offering a larger display with improved contrast, faster page turning, and slightly longer battery life than previous versions. The paper-like Paperwhite provides backlighting when the lights are off (and your SO is sleeping), making it convenient to grab the latest titles from the Kindle store or your local online library. We could all use a literary uplift in our lives, and the Paperwhite is one of the best ways to invigorate yourself.

Julian Chokkattu, editor-in-chief at WIRED, said that the latest Pixel phones give the impression that the hardware has finally “grown up.” The Pixel range is now leading the way as one of the best Android phones you can buy. The Pro version is a great package. It offers great camera performance, an excellent OLED display and plenty of software features if you’re looking for a top-of-the-line phone not Made by Apple, this is a fantastic device at a fantastic price.

The sleek new MacBook Air (7/10, WIRED recommends) isn’t a huge upgrade over last year, moving from the ultra-fast M2 chipset to the ultra-fast M3. However, it’s a significant improvement over older models, including the M1, which in our tests offers an 8-core CPU that hums along with up to 60 tabs open. The computer is still short on ports, but can support up to two external displays with 6K and 5K resolutions simultaneously and a 60Hz refresh rate. Battery life is respectable at around 15 hours per charge (or even a little more) per charge depending on your needs. This isn’t the best option for graphics-intensive work, but it’s a stylish and fast laptop for anyone with a light workload (i.e. most of us).
