When it comes to purchasing sales, I take a very strict purchasing approach. You have to, right? There are many options and it’s very easy to stray from your personal style (I learned this the hard way). My rule? Only buy things that are already on your wish list. If it wasn’t there to begin with, chances are great not need it.

I have a lot of great basics, but far less eveningwear that I think really suits me. I would like to change that! I’ve been loving everything from Róhe lately and also what Talia Loubaton is doing at Liberowe, from the fitted jackets to the beautiful draped tops, like this cream one. A warm shearling coat from Nour Hammour and patent leather heels from Emme Parsons (as seen in our Party Dressing edit) are also on my wish list. Looking past the top of my Net-a-Porter cart, I really need a new carpet too. I love the ones from Nordic Knots – their boutique in SoHo is so chic that when I visited their store I fell in love with the Grand rug in Moss and Walnut. There’s finally a Black Friday sale, which means it’s time to decide!

I already bought this men’s sweater from Gap. It’s the perfect minimalist-friendly shade of green that goes with my mostly monochromatic wardrobe. Khaite’s Shalbi jeans have been on my wish list since I tried them on for our Just Browsing column and now they’re on sale, I’m lucky! While it’s easy to fall into the trap of buying trendy items during sale season, I’m intrigued by the “shrunk” blazer silhouette that’s been popping up in tailoring a lot lately. This style from Studio Nicholson achieves this look at a fraction of the price.

I have my eye on a few designer pieces that I would be very irresponsible to purchase at full price: a great Simone Rocha dress with lace trim and dramatic draping at the shoulder, and a very cool two-tone denim skirt from Marni.

When I shop, I like to keep a very specific motto in mind: “Buy good clothes, wear them often.” My closet is very, very full and when I buy something completely new, I wait for it to go on sale, and I actually need it to fill a gap in my closet. At the moment I’m looking for a new everyday sweater for me and my husband. Then of course my scarf top obsession continues with Nour Hammour and Róhe.

All of my favorite trends of the season – suede loafers, slouchy corduroy pants, casual leather bombers and statement knits – are on sale this early Black Friday! My winter wardrobe could use a refresh and I’m looking at these treasured pieces to get me started. The best part? They are both on-trend and cross-seasonal – I also wear them well into spring.

This Cyber Week, I’m most interested in the winter wardrobe essentials – like the cozy gray knit from Toteme and the cropped bomber jacket from The Frankie Shop. In the beauty world, I’m impressed with this Augustinus Bader trio that I’m planning on gifting to a family member this holiday season.

I used to buy fancy things on Black Friday. I still remember the Altuzarra mirror and bobble skirt that I bought for 50% off at Matches (RIP) in 2012. These days my goals for Black Friday are much smaller – the prices and the actual size of the clothes. Children’s brands are having great Black Friday sales and I’m stocking up on pajamas for my two toddlers. Here are a few pairs I have in mind for Arthur and Alice (and one for me).

This Black Friday I’m looking for versatile and cozy separates to add to my wardrobe. I’ve had my eye on this mohair blend and fair isle sweater, as well as these pleated trousers (I’ve been looking for the perfect pair!).

My former colleague and style inspiration Emily Farra told me that Calvin Klein makes some of the best jeans. So this Black Friday I will be purchasing a pair from the iconic American denim brand. Also, one of my favorite sweaters that I borrowed from my mom is a cozy cashmere gray turtleneck from Saks Fifth Avenue. She’s had it for over ten years – and it still looks great despite being worn often! If that doesn’t prove that Saks Fifth Avenue cashmere isn’t worth it, then I don’t know what will!

Right now I’m on a mission to revise my fundamentals. I’m craving a pair of everyday ankle boots and especially love the super slim Rae boots from Reformation. As for the jeans, I’m on the hunt for more indigo pants, and as an Agolde devotee, I’ve got my eye on these low-rise baggy jeans. Maybe I just have to choose both.

I’ve just started working out again since the pandemic (read: I’ve done a single Pilates class and can barely walk) and to celebrate the occasion, I want some new workout clothes. Plus, everyone in my class looked very cute. So, post-pandemic, it looks like working out is also a fashion event? Annoying. These Alo leggings are so cute and of course I need a matching top.
