Colorado football senior Shedeur Sanders is adding to his trophy cabinet. On Friday, the NFL quarterback was named the winner of the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Sanders is the first Buffalo to win the Golden Arm Award, given annually to the nation’s top upperclassman quarterback. The award takes into account not only performance on the field, but also “character, citizenship, integrity and those who honor the game,” according to the award’s website.

This marks the second consecutive year a CU player has received a major college football award, following Travis Hunter’s 2023 Paul Hornung Award.

Sanders is enjoying an impressive final season in Boulder. He recently became the first CU quarterback to score 30 passing touchdowns in a season and holds the school record for passing yards in a regular season with 3,488 yards in Friday’s finale.
