SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum makes a prediction for the Lone Star Showdown

On ESPN’s “Get Up” Friday, college football analyst Paul Finebaum went on the show to talk about the big matchup between the No. 3 Texas Longhorns and the No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies this Saturday in College Station.

There is a lot at stake as both teams aim for the SEC Championship with a win. But unlike Texas, losing this game automatically means Texas A&M will miss the College Football Playoff. That’s why Finebaum told the cast of “Get Up” he believes Texas is on “riot alert” because “this is the biggest game in Texas A&M history.”

“They (Texas A&M) have been waiting for this since it was announced in December,” Finebaum said.

Another reason Finebaum believes A&M could win is the terrible taste left in their mouth after they were upset at Auburn last week. With both factors at play, plus the major intimidation factor for Kyle Field’s crowd, it seems like the odds are tipping in the Aggies’ favor.

But Finebaum believes the Longhorns can still get it done.

“As big as it is, Texas is a better team,” Finebaum said. “I believe they will win and move on to Atlanta next week.”

Of course, Finebaum is referring to the SEC Championship, whose opponent will be the Georgia Bulldogs.

While the Longhorns are desperate for revenge after last month’s embarrassing 30-15 loss to Georgia, the only way to play them again is to beat Texas A&M.

And after 13 years of avoiding each other on the football field, The Lone Star Showdown has the potential to become an amazing classic.

Kick-off is at 6:30 p.m. on ABC.
