Who will Georgia football play in the 2024 SEC Championship?

The Georgia Bulldogs’ SEC Championship game opponent has not yet been determined, but we do know that Georgia will play the winner of the Texas A&M-Texas game.

ESPN gives Texas a 77.3% chance of winning at Texas A&M, which seems a bit generous. According to BetMGM, the Longhorns are the away favorites by 5 1/2 points.

Of course, Georgia already has an impressive 30-15 win over Texas this season. The Bulldogs haven’t played Texas A&M since 2019.

FanDuel projects Georgia would be a 1 1/2-point favorite against Texas or a 9 1/2-point favorite against Texas A&M in the SEC Championship.

“My thoughts are with Georgia Tech,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said when asked about the SEC Championship. “I mean, it’s a great honor to be able to play in the SEC Championship game. It’s probably one of the greatest events in all of sports because the games you take part in are great encounters. But at this point we don’t even know who that is, and I don’t even care. My concern is 100% with Georgia Tech.”

Smart and Georgia are playing in their fourth straight SEC Championship game. The Bulldogs last won an SEC title in 2022.

“We only worry about one game at a time,” Smart added. Georgia plays Georgia Tech on Friday night, so the Dawgs can sit back and watch Texas and Texas A&M battle for a shot at the SEC Championship.

The 2024 SEC Championship Game will take place on Saturday, December 7 at 4:00 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The SEC title game will be televised on ABC.
