A lake effect snow warning is issued for Crawford County through Tuesday morning

At 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a lake effect snow warning in effect for Crawford County from noon until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The weather service added: “Heavy snowfall with lake effect is expected. Total snowfall will be between 6 and 10 inches. The highest snowfall amounts will be in the northern part of the county, moving southward snowfall will fall to 1 to 3 inches in the southern part of the county.”

“Due to falling and drifting snow, visibility may drop below 1/4 mile. Travel will be difficult, especially as clearing operations from the first round of the Lake Effect are still ongoing. The dangerous conditions could impact commuters Monday morning and evening,” the weather service said. “If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission urge motorists to heed all travel restrictions and postpone nonessential trips. People should consider delays. “All motorists should exercise extreme caution when the weather is likely to snow heavily a few kilometers away due to weather, visibility, etc. road conditions.”
