Arne Slot provides information about injuries before the Champions League duel with Real Madrid

Liverpool go into their midweek clash with Spanish giants Real Madrid in high spirits after posting a “tough win” against Southampton and extending their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points over second-placed Manchester City.

Reds head coach Arne Slot spoke to the media ahead of tomorrow’s game to provide some important updates on some injuries and when we will expect players to return to the game given the upcoming game against Manchester City this weekend squad can count on.

On Trent:

“Trent is in the squad but won’t be in the starting XI. “He may be able to manage a few minutes, in an ideal world maybe not, but if it’s really necessary he may be able to manage a few minutes tomorrow but he won’t begin.”

About Chiesa, Kostas, Harvey Elliott, Alisson and Diogo:

“Federico is not in the squad yet.” He trains with us, not the whole session, but usually one or two parts of the session. Harvey Elliott is on the team but hasn’t played competitively in a long time – so he’s there, but of course not ready to start yet.

“Alisson isn’t there yet, Diogo isn’t there yet, Kostas isn’t there yet – he’s got an injury too, so it’s quite a long list for us too.”

Liverpool currently sit undefeated in first place in the UEFA Champions League table with 12 points, while Real Madrid are struggling somewhat in the competition with just six points accumulated and are in 18th place after four games.
