Christian Watson ruined the perfect Jordan Love throw with the worst drop of the NFL season

It will take a while for Christian Watson to live out this story.

The Green Bay Packers led the San Francisco 49ers 17-7 late in the second quarter of their Week 12 game. The Packers faced off on first-and-10 at the San Francisco 49-yard line, and quarterback Jordan Love dropped back and unleashed a perfect throw to Watson, who was running down the right side and positioned behind his defender. It looked like a sure touchdown, but no.

After flying 50 yards in the air, the ball looked like it would fall perfectly into Watson’s waiting hands. Instead, he completely clinked it and it bounced away from him. Video is below.

Considering how perfect the throw was, this is the worst drop of the 2024 NFL season.

Another look is below.

How do you look at your quarterback’s face after he drops that? Simply terrible.

Entering Sunday’s game, Watson had 20 receptions for 383 yards and two touchdowns in nine games. Given that he was a second-round pick in 2022, that doesn’t represent the level of production Green Bay expects. Drops like this only make things worse.

A side note is that the Packers now lead the NFL in drops.
