Former Ohio State defensive end commit London Merritt announces Colorado commitment, two days after resigning from the Buckeyes

Two days after his release from Ohio State, London Merritt has already announced his new destination.

The four-star defensive back, who decommitted from Ohio State on Tuesday, announced his commitment to Colorado on Thursday night.

Merritt announced his commitment during an interview with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson on their Nightcap podcast, where he said he would take his talents to Colorado University.

A Georgia native, Merritt transferred to IMG Academy for his final season of high school football. He had been committed to Ohio State since March. He is one of two defensive ends, along with Zahir Mathis, to decommit from Ohio State this month, leaving the Buckeyes with just one defensive end (Zion Grady) left in their 2025 recruiting class less than a week before signing day.

Merritt, the No. 144 overall prospect in the 247Sports composite rankings for the 2025 class, becomes the second-highest prospect in Colorado’s 2025 recruiting class behind highly touted quarterback Julian Lewis. He was one of four players to commit to the program on Thanksgiving evening Deion Sanders, along with four-star offensive tackle Carde Smith, fellow IMG Academy defensive end Alex McPherson, and three-star Texas wide receiver Quentin Gibson.
