In a latest twist, the Iowa Hawkeyes’ QB is strangely absent from the team’s ceremony

What exactly is going on between Cade McNamara and the Iowa Hawkeyes?

The senior quarterback hasn’t played since Oct. 26 due to a concussion he suffered in the win over the Northwestern Wildcats, but was apparently healthy enough to practice this week.

And remember: Last week, Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said that McNamara would be physically ready to play against the Maryland Terrapins, but then the school released a statement saying Ferentz misspoke and that McNamara was not medically cleared .

Subsequently, McNamara was delisted from the Hawkeyes’ roster, leading to the team’s season finale against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, making the fact that he practiced this week even stranger.

To put the icing on the cake, McNamara was not announced or shown on the field during Iowa’s Senior Day ceremonies before the Nebraska game, according to David Eikholt of 247 Sports.

And that even though McNamara was on the field before to the ceremonies.

Maybe McNamara is trying to distance himself from the team because there is something very strange going on between the signal caller and the Hawkeyes.

The 24-year-old moved from Michigan to Iowa in December 2022. There was a lot of hype surrounding McNamara before his first season with Iowa City, but he was a major disappointment and only played five games before tearing his ACL.

There was hope that McNamara would respond great this year, but he threw for just 1,017 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions in eight starts before going down with a concussion.
