Iron bowl: Second half with open thread

Well, Alabama made it into halftime with a lead.

It was a strange game for the Tide. Kane Wommack’s defense was mostly primed for the QB run after their failures a week ago, and while Alabama gave up some big plays, they also made a fair number of stops at or behind the line of scrimmage and harassed Payton Thorne already about 5 throwaways behind him.

The Tigers did score two field goals on drives that were extended by questionable penalties, but Alabama stayed in the red zone three times.

But the offense…

On the one hand, Alabama has 14 points and is in third place at 6/9. Jalen Milroe hilariously passed Auburn LB Demarcus Riddick down the sideline for a long rushing touchdown, and Milroe got the intermediate passing game going by getting the ball to the TEs.

On the other hand, Milroe fumbled twice (lost one) and threw a bad interception, while Ryan Williams fumbled once and threw a touchdown.

The offense worked well for the most part, but three turnovers is a cactus-swinging amount of individual error, and Alabama could easily be up 28-0 without them.

As long as the defense stays the same and the Alabama offense stops giving the ball away, Alabama can easily win the game in the 2nd half. But will they? Who even knows.
