Elon Musk, owner of .

“If you buy MSNBC, I would like Rachel Maddow’s job. I will wear the same outfit and the same glasses and tell the same lies,” Rogan wrote on Friday in response to a post from Musk.

Musk trolled the outlet on Friday when he posted about reports that Comcast might sell MSNBC.

Comcast officially announced this on Wednesday Spin-off of several NBCUniversal cable networksincluding MSNBC, in a move that will dramatically shake up the legacy media landscape as the liberal cable channel will no longer be affiliated with NBC News.

The billionaire captioned the post with his own statement, writing, “The most entertaining outcome, especially if ironic, is most likely.” He enjoyed the idea of buying the liberal news channel and converting it into a conservative news channel.

Rogan commented on Musk’s new post with his offer to replace Maddow on the new MSNBC. The X owner replied, “Deal.”

Some conservatives found the idea exciting and hilarious.

Comedian Tim Young commented: “Please God let this happen.”

Conservative author Jim Hanson commented: “Can you imagine how much the left is freaking out right now? You know Elon could do this on a whim.”

Author Carol Roth mentioned ABC’s liberal talk show “The View” in her commentary.

“I would like to throw my hat in the ring for a panel spot on ‘The Normal View,'” she wrote.

The MSNBC host, whose show “The Rachel Maddow Show” airs on Mondays on the network, recently signed a new contract to remain with the company for the foreseeable future. This is happening because the channel’s ratings – including ratings for their show – have declined sharply, especially since then President-elect Donald Trump won earlier this month.

Maddow, who for years built her program on passionate criticism of Trump and has since famously promoted debunked theories linking him to Russia, has lost nearly half of her viewers since Trump’s victory. “The Rachel Maddow Show” averaged 1.4 million viewers since the election and lost 41% of its viewership. Things are even worse in the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults ages 25 to 54, where Maddow averaged 236,000 in 2024 but just 118,000 since the election, a 50% decline.

Musk reflected on buying the liberal news network in another post on Friday, declaring: “MSNBC is for sale. Should I buy it? I’d like to fire Rachel Maddow (for fun) and then turn it into a channel that covers it.” Daily top stories from X. Citizen covers cable news!”

Musk toyed with the idea even more on Sunday morning, posting a meme in which he tries to resist the temptation to buy MSNBC.

MSNBC did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
