Liam Payne prosecutors say why they accused his friend of abandonment

Liam PayneA good friend whom Buenos Aires authorities want to prosecute for “abandonment” knew Liam was unhinged but left him alone anyway … prosecutors claim in an official document obtained by TMZ.

Roger Nores had been very close to Liam in the last months of his life. The two traveled to Argentina together, but Liam stayed alone at the CasaSur Hotel and Roger stayed elsewhere.

According to the documents, Liam’s father was interviewed by authorities and said in May 2024 that Roger volunteered to take over Liam’s care and arrange for him to be admitted to rehab. According to the documents, Liam’s father said it was crucial that Liam always stay busy and never be alone.

Liam’s father said he was alerted in September after his son fired a bodyguard who tried to stop him from taking drugs.

Prosecutors say Roger knew Liam had clearly gone off plan. It is said that Liam ordered four bottles of whiskey at 10pm the night before Liam’s death and ordered five more bottles of whiskey at 6.36am the next morning. They say he texted Roger at 7 a.m.: “Dude, I think I’m going to fuck a hooker.” And according to authorities, Liam texted Roger at 9:32 a.m.: “Can you get 6 grams ?” … probably related to cocaine.

They say when Roger arrived at the hotel they went to breakfast where Liam drank whiskey. The maid went to the room at breakfast and said the room was trashed. Authorities say Liam went back to the room after breakfast and the maid said he searched chaotically for something and eventually found a “powder.”

At 11:30 a.m. two prostitutes showed up… and they told police they had sex with Liam. They say he asked them for cocaine because he was traveling. They also say Liam became angry when they asked for payment and hit the TV three times.

Around 2 p.m., authorities said he asked a hotel employee, “I need 7 more grams for today.”

According to the documents, Roger returned to the hotel at 3:45 p.m. to pay the prostitutes, and at 4 p.m. an employee claimed Liam was “visibly drunk” and had dilated pupils. At 4:04 p.m. Roger left the hotel. A short time later, a housekeeper heard Liam breaking items in his room and someone from the hotel tried to call Roger, but he didn’t answer. At 4:25 p.m. Roger texted Liam: “How are you?” but Liam didn’t reply.

Sources close to Roger tell TMZ … he checked on Liam three times on the day of his death and insists Liam was fine when he left Liam at the hotel about an hour before the fatal fall from the balcony and that he had shown no signs of being under the influence of anything.

Now the twist… the prosecutors who drafted this document are national prosecutors, but a judge ruled that any case involving alleged abandonment should be handled by local prosecutors. Therefore, the judge informed national prosecutors that they had no authority to pursue the suspension. So far, the local prosecutor’s office has not filed any charges. National prosecutors attempted to appeal the judge’s decision, but the appeal was rejected.

Prosecutor Andre Madrea tells TMZ that he is still fully engaged in the case and the judge has not yet made a final decision on whether he has jurisdiction, and that will happen on Monday. Madrea also tells us that more people may be charged in connection with Liam’s death.

As TMZ reported, 3 hotel employees grabbed Liam by his arms and legs against his will and took him to his room. Documents show that the first time they did this, Liam got back on the elevator and when the door opened in the lobby he was unconscious, but regained consciousness, went into the lobby and collapsed again. They took him back upstairs and left him alone in the room.

As we reported, one of the employees who carried Liam called 911 and said they were afraid he would hurt himself because of the balcony… suggesting Liam may have said he would use the balcony to escape.
