LANSING, MI – The Mega Millions jackpot is approaching $700 million as the estimated top prize in the drawing scheduled for Friday, Dec. 13 is worth $695 million. If someone were to win the top prize tonight, it would be the eighth largest Mega Millions prize ever won.

The estimated cash option for today’s drawing is $322 million. Once again, MLive will announce the drawing results shortly after the drawing at 11:00 p.m. EST.

The last time a Mega Millions player won the jackpot was on September 10, when Sol Living Trust of Sugar Land, Texas, won an $810 million jackpot. It was a relatively uneventful year for Mega Millions jackpot wins in 2024, as only three jackpots were claimed this year.

The Mega Millions drawings take place on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 p.m. Five balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 to 70; The Mega Ball is drawn from a series of balls numbered 1 to 25. The chances of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302 million.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states as well as the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. Tickets are $2 each.

The last Michigan player to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot was lottery club Breakfast Club, which won an $842 million jackpot in June 2024. The members plan to use the money to buy a home in Florida and travel.
