Nick Cannon admits he “needs help” as he reveals his diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder

Nick Cannon is opening up about his mental health. The “Masked Singer” host recently admitted he “needs help” after revealing he was diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).

He opened up about his condition on an episode of his podcast “Counsel Culture” earlier this month and further discussed his journey while serving meals at the Los Angeles Mission’s Thanksgiving celebration on Wednesday.

“I still don’t fully understand it, but I’ve always wanted to get tested for it. I did a series of tests,” the father of 12, 44, told People at the event. “I was diagnosed with ADHD. I had dyslexia as a child, but knowing that I was just a neurodivergent person, I always knew.”

“I feel like there are so many labels out there, but it’s like you can embrace it and say, ‘Look, I’m healing.’ I need help. Show me.’ “Mental health and therapy are just really close to my heart,” he continued. “Being able to say that I am a role model for others, but also being healing during the self-process also works.”

The “Drumline” actor previously noted that he has “taken all power away from the term narcissism” as he deals with his “clinically diagnosed” condition.

“Because I researched it and I understand it,” he said during the podcast with Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, a doctor of psychology. “Call me whatever you want… If I didn’t know what it was now, then I’d have a problem with it.”

Cannon is the father of twins Moroccan and Monroe (13) with his ex-wife Mariah Carey as well as sons Golden Sagon (7) and Rise Messiah (2) and three-year-old daughter Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell.

He is also father to twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, 3, and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin, 2, with Abby De La Rosa, 2-year-old son Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi, and Onyx Ice Cole, 2, with LaNisha Cole.

In December 2021, his and Alyssa Scott’s son Zen died of brain cancer at 5 months old. The couple are also parents to daughter Halo Marie, 1.

This holiday, the star told People that he had to attend “a few dinners” to celebrate with his kids.

“It’s very complicated. I’m a busy man on Thanksgiving,” he said. “At the end of the day I’ll be full, but everyone specializes in certain things, you know what I mean? Some people got good sweet potato pie, others got fantastic roast turkey. That’s why I know every house has to have the things that I really like.”

December will also keep him busy. He plans to travel to the East Coast, Aspen and Big Bear, California, because “all the kids want to go to the snow.”
