OU Football vs LSU live score updates for the Sooners-Tigers Week 14 game

BATON ROUGE, La. – After last week’s stunning 24-3 win over then-No. 7 Alabama, OU football looks to build on its momentum Saturday night at LSU.

The Sooners and Tigers meet in a game televised on ESPN at 6 p.m.

It will be the first meeting between the programs since the 2019 Peach Bowl. LSU won the College Football Playoff semifinals 63-28 en route to the national title.

There’s one Sooner left from that game: defensive back Woodi Washington.

The Sooners pulled off last week’s upset with a stunning defensive performance, led by Eli Bowen’s blocking of Crimson Tide star receiver Ryan Williams and the defense of elusive quarterback Jalen Milroe as a whole.

The Tigers present a different challenge as quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is more of a traditional pocket passer and LSU has a larger group of receivers and a strong offensive line.

OU’s offense still hasn’t gotten out of first gear.

The Sooners at least earned a first down, but were unable to convert on third-and-6 as Jackson Arnold’s pass landed at the feet of freshman walk-on receiver Jacob Jordan.

OU punter Luke Elzinga held the Tigers to their own 9 with the punt.

After failing to give up a touchdown against Alabama last week, the OU defense has already given up one to LSU.

The Tigers completed a 7-play, 53-yard touchdown drive that ended with an 18-yard touchdown reception from Garrett Nussmeier by Kyren Lacy.

LSU’s offensive depth was on full display during the drive, with four different players recording catches.

Nussmeier checked on second-and-7 and found running back Cayden Durham — an Oklahoma City native — for a 16-yard gain to kick-start the drive.

The Sooners didn’t have a single three-pointer in last week’s upset of Alabama.

They already have one against LSU.

OU couldn’t move the ball on their first possession, punting on an incompletion, a no-gain run by Xavier Robinson and a short pass to Jacob Jordan for 2 yards.

LSU will have the ball at their own 47.

OU’s defense makes LSU work early.

The Tigers earned a first down and converted third-and-1 from their own 34 before the Sooners forced an LSU punt.

The Sooners almost blocked the punt, but LSU got the ball and tied OU at their own 12.

Pregame update: Davon Mitchell is traveling for the Sooners

Freshman tight end Davon Mitchell was one of the biggest players in the Sooners’ 2024 signing class and was expected to have a chance to play fast.

But Mitchell has never appeared in a game for the Sooners, as Bauer Sharp and Jake Roberts have been OU’s primary tight ends this season.

Mitchell was a surprise addition to the OU travel roster for Saturday’s game.

It’s not clear if Mitchell will play, but the freshman from York, Alabama, was one of the best tight ends in the class even after reclassifying from the 2025 class.

After missing the Sooners’ last two games, OU running back Jovantae Barnes is expected to return against the Tigers.

Barnes is the Sooners’ leading rusher with 577 yards and five touchdowns.

Wide receiver Brenen Thompson, who was injured in the win over Alabama, is also expected to be available, while the Sooners will still be without receivers Andrel Anthony, Deion Burks and Jalil Farooq.

LSU wide receiver CJ Daniels, the Tigers’ fourth-leading receiver, is listed as probable.
