Piedmont is mourning the loss of three of its members

The three former Piedmont High School students from the Class of 2023 who died in Wednesday’s accident were identified Friday. Soren Dixon, a sophomore at USC; Jack Nelson, a sophomore at the University of Colorado, Boulder; and Krysta Tsukahara, a sophomore at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, all died when the Tesla Cybertruck they were riding in crashed and caught fire early Wednesday morning. The vehicle struck a curb and then a retaining wall and became wedged into a tree on Hampton Road between Sea View and King Avenue around 3 a.m. One of the vehicle’s occupants, Jordan Miller, was pulled from the burning car by another student at the scene and survived, but remained in the hospital Friday. Everyone was home with long-time friends for the Thanksgiving holiday.

On Friday evening, a memorial for the crash victims on Hampton Avenue was covered with photos, flowers and memorabilia. Throughout the day, mourners walked by and stopped to pay their respects.
