Ryan Day defends Ohio State player after brawl; Sherrone Moore admits: ‘We have to deal with this better’

A wild brawl broke out after the Michigan-Ohio State game in Columbus on Saturday.

After Michigan secured the improbable victory, members of the team attempted to raise a UM flag at midfield, a major taboo in college football.

The Buckeyes took offense and did what they could to stop the attack. And that led to violence and police using pepper spray to break it up.

Even though the incident turned ugly, OSU head coach Ryan Day appeared to defend his players.

“I don’t know all the details, but I know these guys wanted to raise a flag on our field and we’re not going to let that happen,” Day said after the game.

“It was an emotion on both sides. That can’t happen. … We have to do a better job of dealing with this,” Moore said.

Michigan running back Kalel Mullins, who ran for 100 yards in the competition, said the moment was “bad for the sport” and that it was “classless” for the Buckeyes to take it to that level.

“It was such a great game. You hate it when something like that happens after the game. Bad for sports, bad for college football. But at the end of the game, they have to learn how to lose, man,” Mullins said. “You can’t fight and stuff just because you lost a game. We had 60 minutes and four quarters for all these fights and now people want to talk and fight. That’s wrong. This is bad for the game – classless in my opinion.” Opinion – and people want to be better.
