Tencent’s big new survival game looks like Palworld in Horizon Zero Dawn, but has an interesting premise: “Why can’t humans kill God?”

Tencent is entering the open-world survival games business with a new game called Light of Motiram. It’s set in a verdant jungle world dominated by giant machine monsters called, wait for it.Mechanics.

First things first: Yes, Light of Motiram has a very obvious Horizon Zero Dawn visual vibe. But it also borrows heavily from Palworld on the gameplay side, as players can connect to, customize and improve numerous types of mechanics and use them for different tasks – exploration, combat or just collecting and building. There’s also a bit of Monster Hunter in the boss fights, each of which unlocks new crafting recipes and materials and reveals more about the story of how the world of Motiram got to the state it is in.
