The cold front will bring cooler temperatures, rain and sunshine over the weekend

The Treasure Coast will avoid freezing temperatures as the first frost of the season is expected in the Panhandle and northern Florida overnight.

What awaits you this weekend

In contrast to temperatures reaching as high as 30 or 31 degrees in the northwest and northeast portions of Florida overnight and early Saturday morning, areas in St. Lucie County will continue to remain in the high 60s.

Rain impact on the Treasure Coast

Temperatures remained consistent across the Treasure Coast, with only scattered rain Friday as a cold front moved through central and southern Florida. The rain is expected to ease by the evening as drier air moves south.

The temperatures are starting to drop

Although the Treasure Coast has remained on the warmer side of the cold front and high temperatures Friday were relatively mild in the upper 70s to low 80s — still above the seasonal average — colder air will move in overnight, sending low temperatures down to the mid-50s inland and upper 50s along the coast. Residents can expect brisk weather on Saturday morning, with a breeze helping to cool things down.

A cold front with a chance of rain and storms was forecast to move in on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, followed by a few days of cool, dry weather, a National Weather Service meteorologist said on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

Frost and freeze warnings elsewhere in Florida

While the Treasure Coast avoided freezing conditions, areas of North Florida and the Panhandle could face the first frost of the season. Freeze warnings were issued for the interior Panhandle regions, with low temperatures dropping to 30 to 31 degrees. In contrast, the Treasure Coast’s location near the ocean helped reduce the severity of the cold front’s impact.

The air is drier this weekend

The cold front brought much drier air and set the stage for a sunny and cooler weekend.

Be careful for beach visitors

Beachgoers are warned of a moderate to high risk of rip currents, a common hazard during strong cold fronts. Officials are urging caution for anyone venturing into the surf on Treasure Coast beaches this weekend.
