Things to do in Des Moines this weekend, November 28th

Des Moines Turkey Trot

Thursday morning: Before stuffing your face with turkey, run the Des Moines Turkey Trot at 9 a.m. starting at the Des Moines Courthouse, 208 Court Ave., Des Moines. The race includes 5K, five mile and dead trot events. The longer runs cross the Des Moines River through the East Village to the State Capitol Complex. The 5-mile run heads to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Center, then crosses the Women’s Achievement Bridge and ends with a run in front of the historic World Food Awards structure. Registration is $50 for the 5K and 5 mile races, $184 for a family of four and $15 for the Tot Trot at desmoinesturkeytrot.com.

The Disney on Ice production by "Mickey's search party" will come to the Germain Arena this weekend.

“Mickey’s Search Party”

Thursday evening: Take your kids to see Mickey Mouse and his friends as they perform world-class skating and stunts when Disney on Ice presents “Mickey’s Search Party” at Wells Fargo Arena, 233 Center St., Des Moines. The show starts at 6 p.m. and runs until December 1st. Tickets start at $26 for the daytime show and $57 for the evening performance.
