The 2024 National Dog Show will air again on NBC this Thanksgiving, with longtime hosts John O’Hurley and David Frei taking on the roles as co-hosts. The couple has hosted the event every year since the show first aired on NBC in 2002. 2024 will be the 92nd consecutive year the event has taken place.

After Sealyham terrier Stache won Best in Show in 2023, hundreds of dogs will try to secure the title and its accompanying $20,000 grand prize in 2024. However, before they can earn this title, they must first compete with dogs of their own breed for the title of Best in Breed.

What new breed will be participating in the 2024 National Dog Show?

In 2023, 199 breeds were represented at the Thanksgiving Day Dog Show. In 2024, a new breed will make its debut alongside 204 others.

Recognized as an official breed in the United Kingdom since 1981, the Lancashire Heeler was added to the AKC’s official dog breed list in early 2024 and will make its debut at the National Dog Show this Thursday as part of the herding group.
