Incredibly well achieved goal By the way, for Roma’s late equalizer. The ball from Saelemaekers to the overlapping Angelino was perfectly weighted and allowed the full-back to gain plenty of power on his cross. Hummels was there and shot into the goal from point-blank range. This makes the trip back to Italy all the more pleasant for them.

Spurs are the bookies’ favorites to win the whole shebang. If they play like that, they’ll still have some classic games, but they certainly won’t win them.

Big, big result for Roma and for Ranieri in his second game as manager as he begins his third spell as manager of his hometown club.

Rangers will overtake Spurs and knock them out of the top eight of the Europa League table.

90 mins +4: Spurs win a corner. Roma clearly. Hummels, who doesn’t seem completely fit, dribbles the ball out of the defense. Can anyone find a winner?

That’s such bad luck for Forster, whose save from the previous volley to force a corner was absolutely incredible.

That came. Saelemaekers, who has been playing well since coming on as a substitute, plays Angelino on the baseline. He hammers a low cross shot onto the far post. And who is waiting to give it away? None other than our old friend Mats Hummels, who caused such a shock in the first half. Football! Bloody hell.

89 mins: Saelemaekers and Angelino connect on Roma’s left side. Suddenly they are playing with considerable swagger. You change the angle of attack. A corner is won. And then another… and then a wonderful save from Forster after a volley! Wow!

87 mins: Oops! A terrible mistake from Porro as a good early cross flows in for Roma. He tries to deflect a header back to Forster, but Dovbyk is almost there! Somehow the Spurs manage to get by. That was crazy from Porro.

86 mins: Now Werner will be left with tons of space freed up on the Spurs left side. He hits a low cross to the near post, but Svilar deflects the ball cleanly. Seconds later, Kulusevski storms into the penalty area and his shot is saved by Svilar.

84 mins: Roma wins a corner. Hummels tries an overhead kick. High and wide. However, Roma come to attack again…

83 mins: Romas Paredes gets into a mess just before halftime. Bergvall is penalized for a foul. After a breathless second half, there is a very slight lull.

80 minutes: Werner crosses for Solanke! Solanke hits the woodwork after nodding towards the short corner! Porro soon hits a volley in the next phase of the game. Svilar saves.

78 mins: Can Roma get a point? A victory? To have any chance of finishing in the top eight in this hellish group stage, they absolutely need a win.

76 mins: Roma’s Mancini misses a corner and tries to send the ball into a goal kick. The crowd cheers enthusiastically. Now Son is used for Werner and Bentancur for Bergvall.

73 mins: Saelemaekers is attacked on the sideline by Bentancur. Ranieri, standing right there, wants a VAR check. But nothing happens. Bentancur is fully booked and is perhaps lucky that there are no more. I think there was also a yellow card waved towards the Roma bench.

70 minutes: Tottenham’s Solanke shoots a shot from an angle. Svilar manages it. The former Bournemouth and Liverpool player had Maddison in him and that might have been the better option.

69 mins: Bissouma and Maddison come for Spurs. Sarr and Johnson are gone.

Saelemaekers and Zalewski are on for Roma, Celik and El Shaarawy are missing.

68 mins: Kone shoots a low shot just wide for Roma! Ranieri applauds.

64 mins: Solanke now appears on the left and skins his marker. He sprints to the baseline and crosses to the far post. Johnson lies in wait, but Paredes does an excellent job of getting the ball out for a corner, but is careful not to direct it into his own net. I don’t think anyone in the stadium tonight will say it’s not value for money. It was non-stop.

61 mins: Porro takes the free kick. It’s a brilliant, bar-breaking performance.

“Tottenham needs to restart. “They play it too easy at the back,” says Hoddle.

60 minutes: Uh. There is the 10%. Davies starts a brilliant run against the Roma defense. He is knocked over by Ndicka and it’s a free kick for Spurs in a dangerous central area. Porro will make it, it seems.

59 mins: Angelino hits the crossbar with a volley! Tottenham has apparently run away again because it’s just Roma. Or certainly 90% Roma.

58 mins: There are further goals there. Don’t worry about it. It’s more or less end-to-end. Football is fun again.

51 mins: Dovbyk receives a rare service in the penalty area. He beats a teammate to take a shot, but it misses.

49 mins: Paredes shoots wide from distance for Roma. You could easily get back into this thing and build up some pretty good attacking moves.

48 minutes: There the Spurs had a four-on-two. But Roma got away with it. It was a good tackle from Hummels against Kulusevski.

47 mins: The Spurs start the second half on the front foot. But then Roma mounted a concerted attack with Mancini crossing from the right. And now Tottenham is collapsing in pace!

45 minutes: I just saw an online news post from Italy with the headline: “Video: Hummels per la Roma disaster continues.”

Unfortunately, he was in for a bit of a shock on his first start for the club.

44 mins: Kulusevski and Son are back in the thick of things. The South Korean international dances into the penalty area and finds his teammate. Kulusevski curls a shot with his right foot and tries to deflect it at the far post, but it misses.

40 minutes: Porro now has a long-range shot. What a turbulent first half it was – Spurs are back in full control after apparently being mentally drained for around 20 minutes.

39 mins: The Spurs launch another concerted attack. The ball lands at Son, who makes an excellent curling attempt that Svilar has to direct around the post.

37 mins: “The difference between the top teams is the mental side,” emphasizes Hoddle in his commentary. He refers to Tottenham’s famous inconsistency.

36 minutes: Now Kulusevski hits the post! The son is burning after the rebound! This is really a sensational game.
