Travis Kelce shares Andy Reid’s fun advice for Thanksgiving chiefs

When noted hamburger enthusiast Andy Reid says you need to eat less, you eat less.

The Kansas City Chiefs coach appears to have given his team some dietary precautions ahead of Thanksgiving, as the Chiefs will host the Las Vegas Raiders on Black Friday. For the average American household, Thanksgiving typically includes lavish feasts and decadent spreads of mashed potatoes, turkey, pie, and more—and even larger portions for a household full of hungry NFL players.

In anticipation of the holidays, Chiefs star Travis Kelce discussed on the latest episode of New heights whether playing the day after Thanksgiving will ruin the amount of food he eats.

He added some fun advice from his trainer about curbing appetite:

“You just save everything for after Thanksgiving. Leftovers for days, baby,” Travis said to his brother Jason (at 24:10 in the video). “That was Andy’s reminder: ‘Make sure you do more push-aways than pull-ins.’ He always says that at this point in the year, when the holidays start, everyone knows it’s like, “Ah damn, there’s going to be some good food lying around the house, man.” F—, man, you gotta do that you push away, I don’t need it now. Don’t need it right now.”

The Chiefs (10-1) hope to have more success Friday against the Raiders than they did on Christmas last year, when they lost 20-14 to their division rivals. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET at Arrowhead. Afterwards, they can look forward to a healthy helping of leftovers from Turkey Day and maybe even a homemade Pop-Tart or two.
