US President-elect Donald Trump appoints Indian-American loyalist Kash Patel to head the FBI

US President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday (India time) appointed his loyalist Kashyap “Kash” Patel as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This made Patel second Indian American be included in his cabinet.
In his report on Truth Social, Trump said that Indian-American Kash will work under our great Attorney General Pam Bondi to restore loyalty, bravery and integrity to the FBI.
“I am proud to announce that Kashyap ‘Kash’ Patel will serve as the next Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator and”America first‘Fighter who has spent his career exposing corruption, defending justice and protecting the American people. He played a crucial role in exposing the Russia-Russia-Russia hoax and stood as a champion of truth, accountability and the Constitution. “Kash did an incredible job during my first term, serving as chief of staff at the Department of Defense, deputy director of national intelligence, and senior director for counterterrorism at the National Security Council,” he said in a post on Truth Social.

“Kash has also handled over 60 jury trials. This FBI will end America’s growing crime epidemic, dismantle criminal migrant gangs, and stop the evil scourge of human and drug trafficking across the border. Kash will work under our great Attorney General, “Pam Bondi, to bring loyalty, bravery and integrity back to the FBI,” he added.

Who is Kash Patel?

Indian-American Kash Patel briefly served in the Justice Department during the Obama administration. After Trump took office, he served as lead counsel for former Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., for two years when he led the House Intelligence Committee in 2017 and 2018, and helped lead the committee’s widely criticized investigation into the FBI’s Russia investigation.
In 2018, he served as Trump’s senior director for counterterrorism on the National Security Council, then as a senior adviser to Trump’s national intelligence directors, and finally was promoted to chief of staff to acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller in Trump’s final months in office.
Patel has spoken openly about retaliation against Trump’s political enemies in government and the media, writing in his book: “The FBI is so thoroughly compromised that unless drastic action is taken, it will remain a threat to the people.”
However, Patel has courted controversy throughout his career. In an earlier interview, he stated that politicians and journalists who were considered enemies of the then-elected president would “follow suit.” That statement, aimed at those seen as opponents of Trump, has sparked debate about Patel’s approach to national security.
