Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Reaches Five Million Players, Patch 5 Update and PS5 Pro Specs Revealed

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 sold over two million copies in one month and has now surpassed the five million player mark. Publisher Focus Entertainment revealed the news in its November community update, while also explaining the new content coming in Patch 5.

Saber Interactive also reminded players that an upcoming episode of Secret Level on Prime Video will focus on Space Marine 2 and continue Lieutenant Titus’ story from the game’s campaign.

WH40K Space Marine 2 Patch 5 Contents

As revealed in the game’s Season Pass roadmap, Space Marine 2 Patch 5 will bring the game’s second season, which includes new cosmetic packs, a new operation, new enemies and technical upgrades. This includes an update for the PS5 Pro, while PC gamers will be able to enjoy DLSS and frame generation features.

Season 2 content will be released in the first half of December and includes the following content:

• Dark Angels Chapter Pack.
• Operation: Obelisk – takes place parallel to the final campaign mission on Demerium
• New Majoris Enemy – Tzaangor Enlightened (appears in every PvE operation with Chaos)
• New Armor Pieces – Mark VIII Ravenwing
• Customization – 15 colored lenses

The Dark Angels Chapter Pack includes the Dark Angels Champion, a unique armor set/banner for the Bulwark class. It also includes three weapons with skins based on the Dark Angels chapter – the Automatic Bolt Rifle, Plasma Pistol and Energy Sword. A unique Dark Angels Storm Shield will also be available for Bulwark class players.

The Dark Angels Chapter Pack also includes the following crest items:

• Angel of Absolution
• Angel of salvation
• Angel of Vengeance
• Unnamed
• Blades of Vengeance
• Cloaked Guardians
• Judgment maker
• Angel of defiance

WH40K Space Marine 2 PS5 Pro performance data

On the base PS5, Space Marine 2 offered two graphics modes – a quality mode with dynamic 4K resolution at 30 frames per second and a performance mode with dynamic 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. However, before upscaling to 4K, the internal resolution was quite low in both modes and was often below 1440p or 1080p in each mode, resulting in a slightly blurry image.

On the PS5 Pro, the internal resolution sees a slight increase while using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to resolve a sharper image. Here’s a look at Space Marine 2’s PS5 Pro specs compared to the PS5:

Unfortunately, PS5 Pro owners won’t be able to play the game at 60 frames per second without compromising on visual quality. However, initial results of PSSR upscaling on existing games show a significant improvement in image quality compared to the base PS5.
