Why Lonzo Ball won’t add Kobe Bryant to his NBA Mount Rushmore

Blasphemy of the Black Mamba.

Lonzo Ball recently gave Angel Reese his NBA Mount Rushmore during an appearance on her podcast “Unapologetically Angel,” and KB24 didn’t make it.

“If you had to pick a top four – no order,” Reese asked the 27-year-old Bulls guard.

“Lebron, Jordan,” Ball began. “I’m (also) choosing Shaq because he’s the most dominant of all time.”

“And then, fourth, I go – we just had this debate – I would go to Magic, but I… honestly, it looks like Curry will have to find his way there.”

“Why curry?” Reese asked. “Not Kobe?”

Ball struggled to find the words: “Just because…he does it in a way that…I love Kobe, but to me he was never the best player…just because he made the most mistakes ever, you know what.” I say? I don’t know.”

It’s the second most disgusting thing to come out of a ball’s mouth this month, not to mention the fact that LeBron surpasses Kobe on the most missed shots list ever – 14,628 to 14,481.

“Back to Curry,” Ball said to Reese. “His resume and the way he has changed the game make him the best shooter of all time. (He) carried the United States like that, (there’s) nothing he didn’t do. And he also has the rings to back it up.”

In Ball’s defense, there are only wrong answers to the question of who the greatest basketball players of all time are.

Every GOAT reviewer will have his or her critics, and Balls came out in full force in the comments section of a clip that the Unapologetically Angel podcast shared via Instagram.

“Perfect example of telling me your age without telling me your age!” wrote one user.

“Bro wants to be hated by half the NBA fans,” said another.

“The Mad Lakers traded him so he talks bad about Kobe,” said a third.

Ball, the second overall pick by Los Angeles in 2017, played two seasons with the franchise before being sent to New Orleans on a three-team deal in July 2019.

In his second season with the Pelicans, 2020–21, he had the best season of his career, averaging 14.6 points per game.

The point guard was sent to Chicago at the end of that season, where he struggled to stay on the court.

Due to a meniscus injury, Ball did not play in either the 2022/23 or 2023/24 seasons, and due to wrist injuries he has only appeared in four games so far in the 2024/25 season.
